Two women killed, teen injured in Litchfield crash

A motor vehicle accident occurred Tuesday morning in Litchfield claimed two lives and left a teenager injured, the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

The deadly crash occurred at around 11 a.m. at Route 126 and Hallowell Road in Litchfield. The two women killed in the crash identified as 82-year-old Anita Wade of West Gardiner and 92-year-old Grace Marston of West Gardiner.

The injured person was only identified as a 14-year-old girl. Police didn't release the girl's name. She was taken to the Lewiston hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Marston was driving a Chevrolet Impala, which collided with a tractor-trailer that was being driven by 67-year-old Robert Morang of Chelsea. The tractor-trailer, which was heading south on Route 126/9, is owned by Steven A. McGee Construction.

EMS officers arrived at the scene of the accident first and reported that the Chevrolet Impala sedan was lodged under the tractor-trailer's front end. Both vehicles fell into a ditch after the deadly collision.

The road was reopened shortly after 4 p.m. The crash is still under investigation.
